Fare payment in public transport by mobile phones is supported by Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. In such mobile phones in addition to a SIM-card there is an NFC chip which allows the phone to emulate a contactless smart card. Using a special program in the transport appendix, the mobile phone completely replaces the transport cards used for fare payment on public transport in Moscow. The advantages of fare payment by mobile phone include:

no need to pay additional money for a contactless smartcard;

mobile phones are more likely to be carried than a card;

the phone itself is the information terminal so it always possible to see how many trips remain.
What needs to be done
The steps required to use a mobile phone for fare payment in public transport are:

load a special program (the transport appendix) into the mobile phone, which provides fare payment for public transport,

put STARCARD into the memory of the phone
